Would you like to help to restore indigenous biodiversity on your property creating another Greendot on the Canterbury Plains?
We accept applications all year round from landowners and community groups who would like our assistance with planting native forest on their property.
Applications are assessed by Te Ara Kākāriki ecologists in June each year, with successful applicants planting the following year.
Successful applicants will each receive a customised restoration plan written by one of our expert ecologists, including analysis of their site, a plant list and planting plan.
We can also arrange a group of volunteers to help you put the plants in the ground, as part of our annual planting events.
Some applicants will also qualify for a small financial grant to subsidise the cost of plants and plant guards, up to a maximum of $1,500.
Landowners and community groups are eligible to apply if:

Te Ara Kākāriki Greenway Canterbury Trust is an incorporated Charitable Trust with the goal of increasing biodiversity in Canterbury.
Our mission is to create a ‘Greenway’ – a corridor of native biodiversity Greendots between the Waimakiriri and Rakaia rivers, linking the mountains to the sea Ki uta ki tai.
